Program Manager

Tzu-Ting “Minnie” Lin, LMFT

As the Program Manager at Multicultural Community Counseling, Minnie is honored to continue her journey in children’s mental health, where she spent the past three years as a therapist. Being an immigrant herself, she offers a unique perspective that enhances her understanding of the diverse cultural backgrounds of the families we serve. Minnie believes that effective therapy extends beyond individual sessions to encompass the entire family system and the broader community. By working holistically, she creates a supportive environment that addresses the complexities of each family’s dynamics. With empathy and a commitment to continual learning, Minnie aims to meet our clients where they are, offering hope and guidance amidst their challenges. This approach not only shapes her work but also drives the team’s efforts to make a meaningful, lasting impact in the lives we touch.

Our youth live in diverse communities where they are constantly negotiating the rules, norms and values that can create conflict between American culture and the culture at home.

At MCC, we recognize the need to bridge these cultures in order to help promote the mental health wellbeing of our future generation. We all understand mental health through our cultural lens and the MCC Team weaves each family’s belief system into our personalized service delivery. Staff represent diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds and are capable of providing services in multiple Asian and Pacific Islander languages and Spanish.

At MCC, our team of Therapists and Paraprofessionals work at the family’s pace and create a shared understanding of what the “problem” is, and what cultural barriers may be preventing the family and youth from achieving their personal goals.

Who We Serve

We provide services to Asians, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, Desi Americans, Middle Eastern and Latinx youth in San Diego County. In addition, we collaborate with and provide on-site services for eligible Asians, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, and Desi Americans youth at the following schools:

Success Story

Through our work with a newly arrived Southeast Asian family, we collaborated with each member of the household, nuclear and extended family, to better understand the symptoms. We identified and worked through the cultural and financial barriers with the parent. By the time services ended, the youth’s mood improved significantly, graduated high school with good grade, enrolled in his first year of college and obtained a part time job. The parent and the youth reported a reduction in disagreements and had a better understanding of each other’s needs.
